ProCell®

SURGICAL BLOOD RECOVERY DEVICE REDUCES HEMOLYSIS

A recently completed study by Marc Pelletier, MD, Analysis of Red Blood Cell Integrity Using a Novel Intraoperative Surgical Sponge-Blood Recovery Device, showed less hemolysis and improved cellular integrity compared to hand wrung blood salvage sponges.

RESULTS

The blood recovered via ProCell® had a 33.3% reduced amount of plasma free hemoglobin and 5.5% reduced amount of heptaglobin when compared to the hand-wrung blood.

"ProCell® is a simple device that causes less damage to blood cells and makes it easier for nurses to focus on other aspects of surgery. We're hopeful the implementation of ProCell® leads to fewer blood transfusions, and more importantly, better patient care."
